Ice Cream, Early Mornings and Heat!

Happy Thursday! I’m basically going to skip the intro for this post since I write more or less the same thing every time. And you know it’s Thursday, so we’re thinking out loud today!

I’ve decided I’m not a huge fan of crunchy peanut butter. I’ve been trying to use up some of the stuff we have at home instead of buying new, so I took a jar of crunchy peanut butter to work. It’s so hard to spread on my bagel or put on apple slices and I feel like I end up using way more than I need, and I already use far more than the normal “serving size” so that means I’m using ALOT of peanut butter. I love the texture and flavor of it, but I hate that I can’t spread it!

So in case anyone thought I was exaggerating when I said in my last Thinking Out Loud post that I was obsessed with Olukai shoes, this is the stack of Olukai boxes we’ve received in the last couple weeks. Lane and I are both in love. This could be a problem. So far, these are my favorites, and these are awesome for work in the summer. Lane loves his pair of Nohea slip ons too. But I really do love them all.

Our next project with the house – getting insulation in the attic. When is this project going down? Thursday morning, around 2am. Oh yeah. To say I am excited would be a complete lie. But I am excited for it to be done! We keep inching closer and closer to the finish line! In case you’re wondering, it’s getting hot here during the days, so we have to do it at the coolest point in the day, which happens to also be when we should be sleeping. It could be an interesting evening.

Anytime I run into people that I haven’t seen in awhile, I always get asked if I’m still running and when my next race is. And it hurts my heart a little to not have a race planned. It’s been 6 months since I’ve done a race and I miss it. I haven’t gone this long without racing in 10 years, so while this is really totally normal, it isn’t my normal and I don’t like it! I’m trying to be cool with it and just roll with things, but I love marathons and I want to do one again! Especially after all my physical therapy to help with my hip! I want to know if it worked!!

In case you’re looking for a delicious (healthy!) snack, these Sahale Honey Almonds are amazing! They are crunchy and sweet and salty all in one. And they are the perfect ratio of almonds to cranberries. I can’t do alot of nut mixes due to my allergies

I have been hard core craving vanilla ice cream cones lately. I don’t know what the deal is, but anytime we are out at Home Depot on the weekends, I ask Lane if we can stop and get a cone. I think he thinks I’m going crazy because I want one all the time. Fortunately, he is willing to stop without complaint so I can satisfy my cravings. I’m blaming all the heat.

Speaking of heat. I’m not liking it. I’m not a summer fan because I don’t like sweating unless I’m working out, but holy cow, I am not prepared for heat. And obviously I’m a giant wimp, because it’s only hit the low 90 degrees so far. It’ll be well over 100 in the heat of the summer. Lane and I were out for a walk the other day and I told him I just couldn’t handle it and I might pass out (after about two minutes) and I proceeded to call the heat a “giant sucky McSuckfest.” I might be slightly dramatic, but for real, bring on Fall.
Too Hot-1

Which do you prefer – crunchy or creamy peanut butter? Are you a summer fan? What are you craving lately?

  • I’m with you on the summer heat! I love the longer and brighter days, but the heat is something I can do without. Thankfully it doesn’t get too hot up here in my neck of the woods, but if I could live somewhere where it’s around 72 all year long, I’d be in heaven.

    • The sunlight is so nice but it sucks to not be able to be outside to enjoy it!! Spring and fall are where it’s at! I’m with you, I could deal with 65-75 degrees all year!

  • I love creamy peanut butter, ice cream ice cream ice cream and I HATE summer time. To dang hot. You fit right into our family. That is why we are besties

  • I’m TOTALLY whining about the weather too! I’m so not ready for 70 degrees at 6am. Waaaahhh. I can’t even get my mind around trying to install attic insulation when it’s this hot. You guys are troopers! I can’t have peanut butter, but I’m totally a fan of smooth nut butter (almond is my current favorite). Lately though I’m all over strawberries and grapes. And flavored salts — I roasted green beans on the grill with mushroom salt and a few baby portobellas and it was freaking amazeballs. I know, so random! 😉 Hope you’re having a great week!

    • 1) I love that you just said amazeballs. 2) I demolished a bag of grapes in less than 24 hours last week. They are so good right now! And berries I can do anytime! I really shouldn’t live in Kansas since I can’t deal with the heat or wind. Both of which there is far too much of! Have a great day Cathy!
